In “My car! What did you do to my car?!’ news, this is a video from a cargo ship carrying vehicles on the top deck that catch fire, eventually burning to sad, empty husks of their former automotive selves. There’s speculation the salt water may have shorted a battery causing the fire, but I suspect the answer is much simpler: insurance fraud. And I’m not just saying that because this is exactly what I would have done, but it is and I took this video.

This is a leaked government photo that’s believed to have been taken in 2018 of a “motionless, cube-shaped” unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) as captured by the personal cell phone of “a backseat weapons system operator on an F/A-18F Super Hornet” while flying over the Atlantic Ocean off the east coast of the United States. Wait — jet fighters fly with their cell phones? Why? Also, I’m not saying somebody might need to take a preschool refresher course in shapes and colors, but that’s not exactly what I’d call cube-shaped.

It’s possible the object may be a GPS dropsonde, a sensor on a parachute that provides info on the vertical profile of a storm. But as McMillan points out (and confirms with an atmospheric researcher), the actual dropsonde doesn’t appear in the photo—just the potential square-cone parachute. And there would obviously have to be an aircraft above the object to drop it, and no such craft is visible in the image.

Is the object a research balloon? Probably not, two defense officials tell McMillan. “Pilots who encountered the object described that, unlike a balloon under similar conditions, the object was completely motionless and seemingly unaffected by ambient air currents,” he writes.

So — aliens. We finally have definitive proof. I mean just look at that thing, there can be no doubt. I only wish they’d taken me with them when they left, you know? Like how I feel after my mom forgets I went to the grocery store with her and doesn’t answer her cell phone till she’s back home.

In cool cats and kittens news, this is a video of caracal kitten Kora at the Wild Cat Conservation Center in New South Wales, Australia demonstrating her absolutely perfect ear flick. Apparently caracals actually use their tufted ears to communicate with each other. And, as someone who just watched the video somewhere between twenty and thirty times, I can honestly say Kora here also communicated with me — directly with my heart. It’s seriously glowing like E.T.’s right now. Should I phone home?! “You can try, but we’re not going to answer.” Dad! “Thank God for caller ID.” Mom!

Dave Brubeck Quartet’s ‘Take Five’ is easily one of the most recognizable jazz standards ever recorded. Contrary to popular believe, the song was actually composed by quartet saxophonist/long time Brubeck collaborator/boozehound Paul Desmond, and became the first jazz single to sell over a million copies. And this is a video of Pakistan’s Sachal Studios Orchestra performing the hit, complete with some of their traditional instruments, including a sitar. This is a marketing video of a leather-vest-with-no-undershirt clad Vin Diesel playing with some Street Shark toys at the 1994 Toy Fair, at age 27. Man, he is INTO those Street Sharks.
