This is a 5-minute timelapse video of various skyscrapers being constructed around Singapore from 2012 – 2020. The video is the lovechild of Keith Loutit, who “took hundreds of thousands of pictures of the city over eight years, and then aligned and combined them into 3000 time-lapse sequences to show the city’s amazing growth and transformation.” Wow, that is dedication. I’m not sure if the Singapore Bureau Of Tourism footed the bill for this project, or if Keith funded the project himself, but one thing is for certain: I don’t think I saw a single naked person in any of those windows, leading at least one 14-year old trapped inside an adult’s body to question if it was worth it.

This is in image of a leaf sea slug (Costasiella kuroshimae) captured by underwater photographer Alex Mustard, revealing its uncanny resemblance to Shaun The Sheep. I mean minus the peacock feathers. Honestly, I think it’s just the face. Some more info from Alex, including the animals deceptively diminutive size:

My little green friend. Like many photographers I have a love-hate relationship with Shaun the sheep slugs. These little sap-sucking herbivores make my eyes spin with their total cuteness, and my head spin when it comes to photographing them. They are much, much smaller than people expect, about 2-3mm long (1/16 inch). Once you get the photos on the computer you are in love over again. Their tiny bodies glow in the light and you can zoom in and enjoy all the details of this amazing looking mollusc.

Did you know leaf sea slugs eat plants but keep the chloroplasts functioning in its feathers, which continue to photosynthesize. That’s wild! Mother Nature, am I right? “What about her?” We should hold an intervention, it’s long overdue.

This is ‘Synthetic Summer’ a beer commercial that was allegedly created entirely with artificial intelligence by creative firm Private Island using text-prompts via AI programs like Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, and ControlNet. Um, did those text prompts include “fire tornado” and “backyard human barbecue”? Or is this just a perfect example of AI hearing what it wants to? Food for thought — possibly a BBQ human thigh.

This is a video of Youtuber Mattias Krantz building and playing what is allegedly the world’s first gas-powered guitar. Move over, electricity, this guitar runs on hydrocarbons! The result is actually a lot cooler looking than it sounds, which is like the lovechild of an electric guitar and leaf blower. Also, whatever you do, don’t play thing thing during band practice with the garage door closed.

This is a video from a robotic R/C car that a guy outfitted to run errands for him, in this case speeding into the pet store with a note explaining he needs GloFish shark food, and having the money to pay for it. That’s cool, at least until somebody is fast enough to trip it up and just take the money from its clear compartment. I mean have you seen the free food delivery robots in L.A.? I might not particularly feel like eating Italian right now, but I do feel like I’ve earned it after prying this robot’s head off.

Do you spin your pen? I spin my pen. Usually while I’m watching myself on camera during online meetings I’m tuned out of. But enough about me being the model employee, this is a video from Wired of champion pen spinner Peter Davis breaking down the sport’s skills into 21 levels of increasing complexity. As a pen spinner myself, I thought it was a pretty interesting breakdown. Sure level 1 should have been how not to drop or accidentally stab yourself instead of the charging skill, but I earned these scars. “Those look like firework burns.” Still earned them.
