Marimba Band’s Award Winning Performance

Marimba Band's Award Winning Performance

This is a video of Zimbabwe’s Hillcrest College Marimba Band performing at the 2017 Marimba Cup Challenge. Their performance won them the coveted Marimba Cup that year, which, at least in my mind, they all shared a celebratory drink out of afterwards. It really is a joy to watch. There’s dancing, there’s singing, and there’s some of the best — and most spirited — marimba playing I’ve ever seen. This will definitely be at the top of my weekend playlist, and if anybody at the Labor Day party doesn’t like it, too bad. I mean I’m already crashing a barbecue I wasn’t invited to, you think I care if they don’t like the music I’m playing?

Keep going for this contest-winning performance, as well as another from the following year.

Driving The Highest Paved Road In The U.S. At ~14,000 Feet

Driving The Highest Paved Road In The U.S. At ~14,000 Feet

This is a pleasant video of Youtuber Sidetrack Adventures driving the highest paved road in the United States, the Mt. Evans Scenic Byway in Colorado. The incredibly scenic road climbs to the top of Mt. Evans and an altitude of 14,130-feet, passing through five different climate zones on its route to the peak. Most of it actually looks surprisingly chill, but there were several switchbacks and dropoffs that make Mt. Evans Scenic Byway a hard pass in my book. You’d have to sedate me and tape my head to the passenger side window for me to ever witness this in real life.

Daredevil Makes Super Sketchy Jump Between Rocks Into Water

Daredevil Makes Super Sketchy Jump Between Rocks Into Water

This is a video of a daredevil potentially thrilled about the prospect of getting to drink the rest of his meals threading the needle between two massive rock walls while leaping into the water below. I mean maybe this looked less sketchy from another angle, but I’ve got the distinct feeling this guy’s mom would be sick to her stomach if she saw this footage from any angle. My mom already called to yell at me for the possibility that it was me, even though this guy and I don’t look anything alike. She worries.

Jacana Bird Rescues Babies From Crocodile By Becoming Freaky Multi-Legged Beast

This is a video of an African jacana father gathering his chicks to move away from a hungry crocodile by letting them climb up under his wings, giving himself the appearance of a mutant bird with a bunch of extra legs in the process. Those aren’t his legs though, those are his chicks’ legs. My chick’s legs? Long and golden tan — just the way I like them. I’m kidding, she’s like 5’1″ and pale as a ghost, just don’t tell her I said that.

Piano Music Page Turner Drops Sheet into Piano: You Had One Job

Piano Music Page Turner Drops Sheet into Piano: You Had One Job

This is a video of Tchaikovsky’s Meditation for violin and piano being performed by violinist Eva Gigova and pianist Angela Todorova when page turner Yana Petrova drops the sheet music into the piano. Woops! Angela manages to keep her calm and have a good laugh about it during and afterward though. That’s good. Me? I probably would have pooped my pants and run off stage crying, at least if my middle school talent show was any indication of my cool under pressure.

Thanks to my dad, who agrees this might stand as a good argument for holding page-turning tryouts instead of just going with the first person who volunteers.

Now In Public Domain, Winnie-The-Pooh Becomes A Horror Movie

Now In Public Domain, Winnie-The-Pooh Becomes A Horror Movie

Since the original 1926 Winnie-The-Pooh book entered the public domain in January and The Walt Disney Company no longer has exclusive film rights to the characters within, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is an upcoming horror retelling of the story, with Winnie and Piglet becoming feral killers after Christopher Robin abandons them for college and they have to eat Eeyore to avoid starvation. Wow! This is the trailer for that movie. I have so many questions. Mainly, will it be out in time to watch before Halloween?
