Wolves Bring ‘Toys’ Back To Den To Calm Anxious Pups

Wolves Bring 'Toys' Back To Den To Calm Anxious Pups

This is a compilation of clips from a trail-cam in Yellowstone National Park of wolf parents bringing “toys” back to the den after a hunt to calm their anxious pups. Usually in the form of bones and antlers, but also the occasional tree branch. Some more details about the behavior while I get frustrated nobody ever brings me toys when I’m anxious:

Pups await food deliveries from successful hunts, but in the absence of food adults bring “toys.” The instinct to bring items back to the den may be reinforced by evolution, and probably helps keep adults from being mobbed by sharp puppy teeth.

Man, there were a lot of bones in that video. So, if you were wondering if you’ve been burying the bodies too shallow, the answer is yes, and I’m on to you.

Tetris Theme Gets The Ska Cover It’s Always Deserved

Tetris Theme Gets The Ska Cover It's Always Deserved

This is a video of musician JER of the Skatune Network reimagining the Tetris A-Type theme in the upbeat, brassy style of a ska song. He does a fantastic job with all those instruments. So good I’m tempted to just say f*ck it to work today and play Tetris for the rest of the afternoon. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still going to say f*ck it to work regardless, it’s just how I waste my time instead that’s in question.

Constructing The World’s Thinnest Sandwich

Constructing The World's Thinnest Sandwich

This is a video of chef Ryota Togishi putting his knife skills to the test and constructing the world’s thinnest sandwich. He cuts the bread, cucumber, tomato, and bacon so thin you can almost see through the entire sandwich. Great if you’re on a 200 calorie/day diet, terrible if you just paid $16 for it at a restaurant. Because if a hair in your food adds substantial relative weight to your lunch, it wasn’t much of a lunch to begin with.

The A1 Division World Yo-Yo Contest Winning Performance, Scored 99/100

The A1 Division World Yo-Yo Contest Winning Performance, Scored 99/100

We previously saw the winning routine of the 3A division at the World Yo-Yo Contest, but here comes Mir Kim’s absolutely insane winning A1 division performance. I think A1 is better than A3? I don’t know, I’ve never been part of an A division anything. I didn’t even get any A’s in school. I’m joking, I got tons of A’s. But only for ABSENT. I learned nothing and I’m not smart enough to regret anything.

Kite Surfer Goes Way Too High, Nears Sun Like Icarus

Kite Surfer Goes Way Too High, Nears Sun Like Icarus

Seemingly haven forgotten he’s not a paraglider, this is a video of a Brazilian kite surfer circling higher and higher into the sky on his way to Oz. That looks terrifying. Did he know what he was doing, or did he get caught in an updraft? How close was he to dying? Closer than the time I almost got struck by lightning? Thank God I made Ben Franklin hold the kite string! True story: he invented bifocals because Zeus stole his vision.

Thanks to JustA, who agrees there should be a pilot’s license required to operate one of those kites.

Playing The Guitar While Tap Dancing

Playing The Guitar While Tap Dancing

This is a video of a multi-talented entertainer tap dancing and playing his guitar simultaneously. I dig his technique. The way he just holds his guitar there reminds me of the way a chicken can keep its head still while moving its body around. Was this man’s mother a hen? Even if she was I wouldn’t say it to his face, those shoes like they could slide right into a butt.

Incredible performance by this gentleman
