Lampshades Made From Giant Colored Pencil Shavings

Carefully crafted by artist Nanako Kume, ‘Sharpener’ is a series of lampshades made from the shavings of massive colored pencils cut with a giant pencil sharpener. The colored pencils aren’t actually functional colored pencils (there’s no colored pigment in the middle), just hexagonal logs with a painted exterior. Per Nanako, “From a young age, I was fascinated by the shape and fragility of the shavings that are created when I sharpen a pencil.” The result is just the right amount of whimsical. And you know how I feel about whimsy. “You’d marry it if you could.” I don’t know about that, but at least go steady for a bit before a horrible breakup.
