Archer Forfeits Own Shot After Opponent’s Equipment Malfunctions, Forfeiting His

Sporstmanship: maybe it isn’t entirely dead after all. Case in point: this archery match between Sergio Garrido of Spain and Claudio Alves of Portugal where Claudio’s arrow release wouldn’t trigger, causing him to forfeit a shot. Sergio asks what happened, and walks away from the line on his next shot, forfeiting it. Sergio went on to win the match (he was leading by three points at the time of the malfunction), knowing it was in no part due to faulty equipment. That is commendable, because I guarantee most people would have not only taken their shot anyways, but vocalized it’s their opponents responsibility to ensure their equipment works, and you saw them doping before the match.
