Most commonly chosen is the queen on account of her maneuverability. And this is a video of Youtuber Works By Design creating pawns that can automatically transform into queens when they reach the back line of a chess board (triggered by magnets in the piece and a strip of metal in the board). The pieces are predominately 3D printed along with a spring, some metal pins, and the magnets. Obviously, I’m going to make eight of these, then make them transform and queen out as soon as the game begins.
