This is a video highlighting the life of Murphy, an injured bald eagle that lives that the World Bird Sanctuary in Valley Park, Missouri. The 31-year old(!) recently started nurturing and trying to hatch a rock he found in his enclosure, so when an orphaned bald eagle was brought to the sanctuary, the staff decided to put Murphy’s paternal instincts to the test. Hey — if you can raise a rock, how hard can a child be? Murphy excelled at parenting, and his young charge was released back into the wild on July 7th (video below). Since, Murphy has become stepfather to yet another young eagle. Sounds like he’s found his calling! Me? I’m not sure what my calling is, but *angrily sweeping broken glass off desk* it’s not building ships in bottles, I can tell you that.
