This is a clip from student Matt Barta, who presumably programmed this little industrial robotic arm to pull its own power cord from itself. Smart thinking! Or, who knows, maybe the robot foresaw a life of cruel robotic experimentation in its future and decided to end things itself while it still could. Boy is it going to be disappointed when it gets plugged back in.

This is a clip of good boy Indy (we named the dog Indiana!) holding a camera in his mouth while playing a game of chase with his owner. During this particular game, his human is doing the chasing, and Indy is doing the effortless avoidance. It’s sweet watching Indy check to see where his human is, and slowing down or stopping for him to catch up. We don’t deserve dogs. Or cats. Honestly, we should count our lucky stars we weren’t just left with rats and spiders.

This is a video of the Jurassic Park themed gravy river made by Instagram user laurenrfenwick for her fiance’s birthday dinner, per his request. The picturesque dinner scene features a flowing river of gravy surrounded by broccoli and asparagus trees and chicken nugget dinosaurs. I usually request a spaghetti dinner for my birthday, but maybe this year maybe it’ll be a mashed potato mountain. I doubt it, but who knows — if certain people get their way and I have all my teeth punch out, maybe chewing won’t be an option.

This is a clip of a life-size R/C flying Superman model, complete with mannequin head and terrible haircut. I say life-size, but I think it’s actually more young Superman, or Superboy sized. I mean it’s not 6’3″. It certainly should have been though. I mean if you can make something 5-feet, why not make it 7-feet? That’s my motto. Also why my sofa doesn’t fit in the living room.

This is a short video of a woman’s poor choice of charging cable for use during a 6+ hour red-eye flight. The only thing that could make it any worse is if it also vibrated and beeped as it charged. This is why I always wear a sleep mask on flights. And pretty much everywhere else. Really the only time I’m not wearing my sleep mask is when I’m driving. I do still use a neck pillow though.

This is a video of of The University of Tokyo’s Alter3 humanoid robot being fed text prompts by ChatGPT 4 to be acted out like in charades. It’s absolutely horrible at the game (okay, its snake and ghost were decent), and if you’re playing charades, you better hope ol’ Alter here isn’t on your team. I take charades seriously. “He’s attacked people before.” That’s true — I had a terrible guesser on my team once, and his last guess before getting body-slammed through a coffee table was ‘raging bull.’ It was his only accurate guess.
