It also encourages humans to leave potential hermit crabs shells on the beach instead of taking them home to populate their junk drawer or a jar in a beach-themed guest bathroom. Even aware of the hermit crab’s plight, will people stop taking their homes? I’d certainly like to think so, but a lot of people, just like the plastic these crabs stuffed their asses into, are garbage.
