This is a video demonstration of the Roadrunner bipedal robot developed by the Robotics and AI Institute. The 33-pound robot looks like a pair of dismembered robotic legs with wheels for feet, presumably because that’s exactly what it is. It can roll around with its wheels oriented straight ahead or each at 90 degrees like a ballerina in second pose (seen above), and even stomp up the stairs like an angry roommate. Great, just what we needed — stomping robots. At the end of the video it even balances on one wheel. So, you know, if the whole robots taking over the world thing doesn’t work out, at least it’ll have a place in the circus. They’re absolutely going to kill us all though, just to be clear.
