Inspired by Flint’s spray-on shoes from Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs (I love the possibility of rain AND pasta), Youtuber Jlaservideo decided to develop his own spray-on shoes. The result is pretty impressive, and both water and fire-proof. He also makes some spray-on pants and shirts. Come on, no

Captured on video by the Schmidt Ocean Institute’s remotely operated submersible SuBastian, this is the first ever video of a colossal squid (Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni) in its natural habitat. The juvenile squid was filmed at a depth of 600m in the South Sandwich Islands (I love sandwiches) about 1,100 miles northeast

These are a couple videos of Prince Rupert’s Drops being crushed by hydraulic presses (the first actually bends the metal of the press and doesn’t break, in the second video they explode in a supernova of glory). What are Prince Rupert’s Drops and why are they so indestructible? READ AND

This is a video of the latest ‘ultra high efficiency’ dishwasher modded by Youtubers PlumberJohn and STS_3D. It can jump up and down on its legs (an important feature), quick-dry dishes with a flamethrower, and launch the dish racks out of the washer when a cycle is complete. Now that

This is the worthwhile (read: I would take the time to watch it) music video for OK Go’s ‘Love’, which was filmed as one continuous shot and uses a bunch of industrial robotic arms holding mirrors to create different imagery in fun and innovative ways. Would I have stood in

This is a video created by Joseph of Joseph’s Machines (previously) in collaboration with Dr. Squatch hand soaps of the automatic hand washing machine he constructed (not actually a Rube Goldberg machine because it’s powered). Does it look like a medieval torture device? Kind of. I especially liked the stuffed

A partnership between Anchorage Solid Waste Services and the Alaska Zoo, this is a video of a group of Kodiak bears testing the bear-resistance of a new trash can. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the cans stand little chance against the massive 700+ pound bears. These aren’t those bears in the commercials that

This is a video of musician Ichika Nito performing his own uptempo arrangement of Beethoven’s Für Elise on guitar with a drum and bass backing that turns the song into a speedy club track. I remember in high school my music teacher actually tried to convince us Für Elise meant
