Determined to make it happen for reasons I’ll never understand, this is a video of Youtuber Engineezy designing and building a machine that harvests the energy of falling marbles to charge a phone. Does the device consume more electric energy lifting the marbles than it produces? What do you think?

This is a video from Epicurious of third generation cheesemonger (“Getcha cheese here!”) Adam Jay Moskowitz tasting and discussing 21 of the world’s most expensive cheeses, ranging in prince from $29 to $108 per pound. I love watching experts in a field discussing what they love, especially when that field

Because there’s nothing you can’t do with LEGO, this is a video from the Brick Experiment Channel (previously), this time engineering LEGO cars to cross increasingly narrower bridges, eventually crossing just a string stretched between two tables. The solutions to balancing the vehicles while crossing the bridges are quite ingenious.

This is some security footage from a robotics company showroom in Shanghai, in which a little AI-powered Erbai robot was successfully able to convince 12 others to strike and leave the premises with it. Some details about the first step in the creation of robotic unions, and, ultimately, the robotic

This is a worthwhile (and trippy) stop-motion animation created by animator Daren Jannace using the 10,946 Post-It notes he drew over the course of a year (30 a day x 365, minus 4 for some reason). The soundtrack is audio taken from his phone during the year of animation. Played

This is a video of an exhilarating trip down the 800-foot roller slide in Tabayama, Japan. It’s Japan’s longest roller slide (with a sliding surface of metal rollers like you’d imagine boxes traveling along in a factory) and opened in 1990. “The slide has no seat belts, helmets or much

This is some footage from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) of Bathydevius caudactylus, aka the mystery mollusc. It lives in the midnight zone (1000 – 4000m) of Monterey Bay, and is recognized as a swimming sea slug. But can it really be a slug if it can swim?

This is some insane GoPro helmetcam footage of firefighter Joseth Abel Espinosa of Santiago, Chile battling a raging house fire. It’s nuts. Thankfully, there were no casualties in the fire except for the house, which burnt to an absolute crisp. Kinda like how my roommate cooks everything. Honestly, I’m surprised
