An Argument Not To Camp In The Amazon, Exhibit A

This is a video from rainforest conservationist and TikTok user junglekeeper, who’s documenting his stay in the Amazon when leafcutter ants start cutting leaf-sized holes out of his tent, providing all the other terrifying insect wildlife easy access to climbing on his face. Talk about a nightmare. Personally, the only camping I like to do is pitching a tent in the living room and roasting s’mores over a candle. Maybe I’ll watch a scary movie through the tent flaps, or maybe I’ll start a tent fire, but probably both.

@junglekeeper Yet another reason you THINK you want my job. Here's one of those times there's just NOWHERE to go. Nothing to do. The walls have been breached and I was just stuck inside a multi-species festival of insect life. *This was from when I still had the good humor to film. It got worse. A lot worse. The rain got in, the ants won and swarmed in. It was like the battle of Helm's deep. I got no sleep. Also l'm gonna need all new gear CAUSE THEY ATE IT. Everything I own now has holes in it. #camping #jungle #tarantula ♬ original sound – Paul Rosolie
