Uh-Oh: Trailer Passes The Moving Van That Was Towing It

Towing things: it’s not as easy as it looks. Especially if its your first time and you have zero clue what you’re doing because Budget will 100% rent you a van and trailer with zero experience or questions asked. And this is the result: some violent swerving before ripping itself free, crossing an exit ramp, and almost hitting a house. Some details from an expert in the Youtube comments:

Why? You may ask. The weight on the trailer was not distributed properly, leaving most of the weight on the tongue (exceeding its weight rating), and rear axle of the truck which leads to swinging like that. In that instance, you FLOOR IT! Never slow down when your trailer is swinging out of control, you need to pull it straight and pull over slowly.

AND A FOLLOW UP REBUTTAL FROM AN EXPERT ON EXPERTS IN THE YOUTUBE COMMENTS:

You are completely wrong it was swinging like that because it was already uncoupled. It didn’t have enough tongue weight so it popped off. If it had too much tongue weight the tongue would have hit the ground the second it came off

So, who’s in the right? Beats me, but I like the first guy’s advice: step on it. You know there are very few problems that stepping on it can’t solve, including evading a pursuer on the highway, clearing a jump in a monster truck, and roaches on your kitchen floor.
