This is a visualization bar-charting the best selling video game consoles worldwide from 1978 – 2022. The Atari 2600 was the heavyweight early on, but then Nintendo came along and tore the gold medal right off its neck with the NES and Game Boy. Eventually, the Playstation 2 would take the top title, and remains so with over 159 million units sold. DAMN. Sadly, the Sega Dreamcast never made it anywhere near the top of the list. I’d pour out a little liquor for it, but I don’t want to be wasteful, especially this near the holidays.
