Because how else are you going to spend half a day, British lawnmower racing enthusiasts recently participated in an endurance race to see which team could complete the most 1.4km (0.87-mile) laps in 12 hours. Each team was allowed 3 drivers, who took turns (as needed) speeding around a dirt track at speeds up to 50MPH on their modified mowers (including removed blades for safety). The winners were able to complete a very respectable 420 laps with an average speed throughout the 12 hours of 49km/h (29.8MPH). That’s not bad. Maybe a little faster than I cut my grass, but I like to take it slow and mow it like a baseball outfield. “All I see is weeds.” Yeah, well, my lawnmower broke. “In 2024?” 2021.
