Do you spin your pen? I spin my pen. Usually while I’m watching myself on camera during online meetings I’m tuned out of. But enough about me being the model employee, this is a video from Wired of champion pen spinner Peter Davis breaking down the sport’s skills into 21 levels of increasing complexity. As a pen spinner myself, I thought it was a pretty interesting breakdown. Sure level 1 should have been how not to drop or accidentally stab yourself instead of the charging skill, but I earned these scars. “Those look like firework burns.” Still earned them.

This is a video created by Eightminutesupsidedown, who identified all the samples used on the Beastie Boys 1994 banger of an album Ill Communication, and plays them in their original form, followed by the Beastie Boys’ usage on the album. It was a fun listen. Man, 1994 — that was a good year for me. And, if I’m being perfectly honest, probably the last good year for me unless all the investing I’ve done in the lotto finally pays off.

This is a drone video from Vancouver, British Columbia, where Youtuber mactac was trying to capture some scenic footage of a mountain range when he inadvertently captured an avalanche flowing down the mountain like water. Talk about being in the right place at the right time! Or, if you were a person on that mountain, the wrong place at the wrong time.

Keep going for the video, all the avalanche footage is at the beginning though so feel free to stop after the snow stops flowing.

This is a video of a tenrec at the Cincinnati Zoo taking a dust bath in a tiny bathtub. How precious! And it’s so deliberate and thorough with it’s cleaning too! If I were even half as thorough maybe my pits wouldn’t smell like chili cheese dogs with extra onions. It’s my natural musk. My girlfriend hates it, but I can attract raccoons like nobody’s business.

Sponsored by the video game Warframe, this is a video of inventor Colin Furze testing a giant gimbal he built that allows a user to perform wild jumps like in a low-gravity environment. The gimbal uses counterweights and hydraulics to achieve the feat, allowing Colin to jump from one stack of pallets to a much higher one, and even perform a wall run and some spinny-spins. Because the fourth is strong today, here’s a video from Red Side comparing the sizes of various starships and planets in the Star Wars universe. The video begins with small ships, before progressing to giant city-sized ones, then on to the planets as compared to the size of earth. I was surprised how many of the planets are all similarly sized. Still, there’s no question they got the size of Alderaan right (not included).
