Smooth As Silk: Little Person Dismounts Motorcycle
This is a short video of a little person smoothly dismounting a dirt bike with the helping leg of his friend, who was driving the bike. Most impressive. Me? I’ve never dismounted a dirt bike that didn’t involve a crash and getting launched and breaking bones. So yeah, a little smoother than I’ve ever done.
Thanks to my dad, who agrees if you’re going to do something, do it smoothly.
Guy Sees Fire And Calls 911, Turned Out To Be 8-Foot TV Playing Yule Log Video
This is an Instagram video from Kieran Knightley, who happened to spot a blaze in an a New York City apartment and, being the responsible citizen that he is, called 911. However after the fire department arrived and investigated they informed Kieran the fire was, in fact, just an 8-foot television playing one of those yule log videos. Hey, better safe than sorry. Also, it’s a little unseasonal for yule log videos. What’s wrong with these people? Hopefully while the fire department was there they search the apartment for other perversions.
Thanks to JustA, who agrees you shouldn’t let one mistake prevent you from continuing to do the right thing.
Skeleton Balloon Gets Spooky In The Street
This is a short video of a mylar skeleton balloon doing its best dementor impression in an attempt to haunt a neighborhood street. It does a decent job, although I could tell its heart really wasn’t in it. Because it doesn’t have one! “Because it’s a skeleton.” What? No, because it’s a balloon. Skeletons can still have hearts.
Thanks to JustA, who agrees he’s probably just looking for dropped candy.
John Lennon Hears ‘Imagine’ Played Back For The First Time
Step into my time machine (sure, it looks like the same closet where we play 7 minutes in heaven) and take a trip back to 1971 and John Lennon hearing the recording of his ‘Imagine’ for the first time. He seems relatively pleased with the result. As he should be, it’s a great song. Very poignant. Maybe not as much so as ‘I Am The Walrus’, but that song really speaks to me. Usually in nightmares.
Guy Performs Multitrack Orchestral Cover Of Indiana Jones Theme Entirely With Voice
This is a video of musician Matthew Van Ness performing a 40 part multi-track orchestral cover of the Indiana Jones theme, playing all the different instruments with his voice. Does his voice sound like all those different instruments? Not particularly. Or generally, but you have to admire his dedication. If this had been my project I would have realized almost immediately that I could never be a piccolo, then pulled the plug and swung it around pretending it was a bullwhip.
So Satisfying: Vacuum Suction Grippers Grabbing Products
These are a couple video demonstrations of VMECA’s Magic Gripper being used on assembly lines. The Magic Gripper is a line of robotic vacuum powered suction grippers that can grab a row of products as they pass by on a conveyor belt to move to the next stage of a production line (e.g. packaging). Does it ever screw up? Maybe! Could Lucy and Ethel do a better job? Not if their work at the chocolate factory was any indication!
Keep going for the video, as well as the classic I Love Lucy scene because it’s so great.
