This is a graphic created by Visual Capitalist detailing the world’s top 17 grossing media franchises of all time, and the sources of all that money. The order may surprise you. Or it may not. All I know is I’m in the wrong business. I need to be selling animated characters, not words. Interesting, about half of these franchises originated in Japan. Clearly, Japan knows how to franchise some media. Am I going to enroll in franchising school over there? No, I’m going to found a franchising school in Japan, then bilk a bunch of other idiots like me. I’m gonna be richer than Princess Peach!
