Paper Shredder On Wheels Just Keeps On Shredding

Paper Shredder On Wheels Just Keeps On Shredding

Inspired by the old paper shredder his mom was throwing out, artist Japhy Riddle added wheels to it and transformed it into a piece of kinetic art, pulling itself along and endlessly shredding provided it has a piece of paper long enough, and its power cord reaches.

The machine gives off the feel of a ravenous anthropomorphic monster whose only purpose is to constantly feed.

Cool, but where are the googly eyes? I would have assumed that’s a no-brainer, yet here I am watching it, with no googly eyes. Now I’m not sure what they’re teaching in art school these days, but when I went, there were only two schools of thought: tasteful nudes, and googly eyes. I dared to mix both.

Boston Dynamics Spot Robots Now Speak With ChatGPT, Provide Tours

Boston Dynamics Spot Robots Now Speak With ChatGPT, Provide Tours

Harnessing the power of ChatGPT, Boston Dynamics has turned one of their Spot quadruped robots into a talking tour guide, capable of providing tours of their facility with a variety of personalities, including a 1920’s archaeologist, Shakespearean actor, British butler, and bleak sarcastic guy “Josh”. All of the different personalities were created by adding just a single additional prompt to the robot’s script (e.g. you’re a Shakespearean actor), and the AI did the rest. Great, so robots are taking our tour guide jobs now. Is nothing sacred? Personally, I still prefer my tour guides the same as I prefer my sexual partners– “Old and knowledgable.” Okay I was just going to say human.

Man Helps Remove Halloween Decorations Stuck On Moose’s Antlers

Man Helps Remove Halloween Decorations Stuck On Moose's Antlers

This is a video of British Columbia, Canadian Shaydon Soucy helping a moose that appears to have had one too many witch’s brews at the Halloween party and gotten itself caught up in the decorations. Been there before, Bullwinkle!

“As soon as it saw me walk over to the fence, it started walking over to me,” he said.

“It’s kind of like he knew I was going to be attempting to help him,” he said.

After the decorations were removed, the moose started licking Soucy’s hand and even let him give him a small pat — something Soucy admits he probably shouldn’t have done given the potential dangers.

“I would advise against it and probably wouldn’t do it again, but in the moment it was worth it,” he said.

“It’s definitely the most Canadian thing I’ve done.”

LOL @ “Definitely the most Canadian thing I’ve done.” I would 100% read a compilation of the most Canadian thing every Canadian has ever done. You know, Shaydon should probably just wear regular clothes for Halloween and when people ask what he is tell them a good samaritan. Obviously, I will be a sexy samaritan this year.

Thanks to my dad, who agrees good people are everywhere, but there’s probably more in Canada.

Robotic Spy Mudskipper Infiltrates Mating Ritual

Robotic Spy Mudskipper Infiltrates Mating Ritual

In words I never thought I’d type news, this is a video of a robotic spy mudskipper infiltrating the mating ritual of the amphibious fish to catch the action up close and personal. Ahooga! The ritual begins with some flag (fin) raising displays, proceeds to a jumping (flopping) contest, and ends with a bro fight. Well, technically it ends with two mudskippers doing the nasty and raising a family, but the video ends before that part. At least the robot didn’t win the contest and produce a line of half robotic mudskippers. Those could evolve quickly into something humanity isn’t ready to battle yet.

Jeep Tears Wheel Off Trying To Escape Pit

Jeep Tears Wheel Off Trying To Escape Pit

This is a video of a Jeep crew doing some offroading in what appears to be a giant’s belly button when the driver fails to maneuver out of the hollow, snapping the vehicle’s front U-joints and ripping the right front tire clean off. That looks like an expensive repair. Of course I could repair it for you on the cheap provided you sign this waiver stating I won’t be held responsible for future death or dismemberment as a result of just using zip ties and duct tape, or for stealing your catalytic converter.

No Fly Zone: Eagle Grabs Drone Out Of The Sky

No Fly Zone: Eagle Grabs Drone Out Of The Sky

Because nature doesn’t care about your breathtaking drone footage, this is a clip from a drone operated by Adam Culbertson of Terra Incognito Photo & Film featuring a golden eagle snatching it while it was filming the mountains of Utah. The eagle continued flying with it until it was out of range, and it was never recovered, although the footage was saved to Adam’s phone.

Just an eagle reminding me whose airspace I’m in! I kept thinking the eagle would drop it, but it quickly carried my new FPV drone all the way out of range (presumably to some faraway nest). Luckily these drones shut off their propellers as soon as they detect an impact, so the eagle was not harmed.

I’d like to think that golden eagle is in its nest now, waiting for the drone it’s sitting on to hatch. I originally imagined it was feeding pieces of it to its chicks, but that was too depressing. Not that the hatching thing isn’t, but it’s certainly a more pleasant thought than baby birds eating drone scraps.
