This is a video 17-year old Kigar Mustang mare West Wind deciding to make snow angels with her owner Sandy Hodskins at West Meadow Farm in Bradford, New Hampshire. You’re never too old to act young — remember that. Per Sandy:
“I got her as a yearling and we have been a team ever since. We study Natural Horsemanship, it’s a way to communicate to horses using psychology to connect with the horse at every level – recreation, training and competition. This was another snow storm we had, my husband was out plowing, after I got done shoveling I brought West Wind to a new paddock with fresh snow and starting making snow angels. She decided she wanted to join me. (The psychology part is I know she enjoys laying down in fresh snow), I was happy she did it next to me! We were just having fun like we did as kids. Something we often forget to do when we turn into an adult.”
Precious moments. I’ve never made snow angels with a horse before, but it looks like a good time. Of course making sand angels on a tropical beach somewhere would look like an even better time, especially if that horse knows how to mix a good piña colada.
Thanks to my dad, who agrees snow is cool from time to time, but sand between your toes is ALWAYS nice.
