The Meat Loaf has left the building. I remember listening to Bat Out Of Hell regularly growing up because my dad had it on a CD in the six-disc changer in the trunk of the Lincoln Town Car. I wasn’t particularly in love with it all at the time (although I certainly appreciated some of it) but, just like a fine meat loaf, it grew better with age. My age in this case. It’s weird, I’ve been singing ‘You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth’ to my girlfriend for the past couple weeks after it came to me out of the blue, and I have received some kisses for it. I guess I have Meat Loaf and songwriter Jim Steinman to thank for that. I’ll have to try singing ‘I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)’ tonight and see where it gets me! Rest in peace, Mr. Loaf.
Keep going for the video of Meat Loaf bravely performing the National Anthem at the ’94 MLB All-Star Game with a Terminator standing behind him, as well as some of my personal favorite bangers including ‘You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)’, ‘Paradise By The Dashboard Light’, ‘Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad’, ‘Heaven Can Wait’, ‘I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)’, and ‘It’s All Coming Back To Me Now’.
