This is a Red Bull video of Olympic ski jumping gold medalist Ryōyū Kobayashi setting a new world ski jump record with an absolutely insane 291-meter jump. It beats the previous world record by a very respectable 37.5 meters, and was performed on a special ramp made just for the occasion in Iceland. So this is the Guinness World Record for longest ski jump, but not an official sport record since the jump wasn’t sanctioned by FIS (International Ski & Snowboard Federation) and was a one-off by Red Bull. Still — flying 1/5th of a mile on skis? That’s nuts, and I have to do it. Or die trying. “You will almost certainly die trying.” Probably from falling off the ski lift on the way up.
