This is a video from BBC Earth Explore highlighting the work life of bus driver Glorioso, who’s driven a treacherous mountainside route in the Peruvian Andes for the last 12 years. Damn, talk about nerves of steel! Me? I have nerves of store brand aluminum foil.

As the local saying goes, “It’s better to arrive a little late in this world… than early in the next”. And that’s the secret to a long career as a Peruvian bus driver, taking the mountains at their own pace.

Amen to that, I’m a huge believer in better late than dead. And an even bigger believer in better to just not go at all. Why risk it? The world is a terrifying place and I have everything I need in my rumpus room.
