Mother Nature: she’s wild. I could go into detail but she threatened me with murder hornets the last time I told one of her secrets. Enter this absolutely stunning footage of a female blanket octopus. You can tell it’s a female due to the species’ incredible sexual dimorphism, with females

In oh hell no news, this is a video of conservationist and freediver Ocean Ramsey casually swimming alongside a 20-foot long, 8-foot wide great white (possibly Deep Blue) off the coast of Oahu, Hawaii. She even holds hands/fins with it at one point. That is very brave. Still, I think

This is the absolutely stunning LEGO great coral reef built by LEGO maniac Kris Kelvin that’s up for voting on the LEGO Ideas website with the hope it gets the requisite 10,000 votes for LEGO to consider it for production. Just look at that thing! So many unique pieces. I

Proving that life imitates art (or life imitates art imitating life), this is shot of a real-life SpongeBob and Patrick hanging out on the seafloor at a depth of around 6,500-feet, as spotted by an unmanned rover exploring the Retriever Seamount off the coast of New England. How about that!

Because Mother Nature dictates there must be a winner and a loser (symbiotic relationships excluded), this is a clip from National Geographic WILD of a California two-spot octopus (aka bimac) who decides mantis shrimp is on the menu tonight, but the would-be catch of the day isn’t having it, repeatedly

This is a video of a mantis shrimp, presumably very angry it was yanked up from Bikini Bottom, punching the fisherman who caught it, slicing through his new bootie and foot and causing him to bleed. The dude sounds pretty upset about the booties, which he repeatedly mentions are new

These are several shots of what is believed to be a female Pacific Footballfish (I think I caught one of those in Animal Crossing!) that recently washed ashore in Crystal Cove, California. The fish normally lives at depths down to 3,000 feet, so it’s rare to ever see one at

This is a video of a male humpback whale circling the Tonga Islands (a popular spot with the females to bear calves since there are no killer whales there — the biggest threat to young humpbacks) in the South Pacific Ocean and singing his heart out in an attempt to
