This is a video of The Epic Spaceman (aka Toby Lockerbie) trying his best to explain the scale of the Milky Way Galaxy, and our place in it. In order to help our feeble minds, “he shrunk the hazy cluster down to such smaller perspectives as the diameter of the United States, the ridges on a fingertip, and a single electron.” Did I come away with a better understanding of the galaxy? Pfft, I was born in space, I learned everything there was to know about the Milky Way before I could even tie my own space boots. Which, if I’m being completely honest, still give me trouble sometimes. I blame gravity.
