This is a video demonstration of MIT’s ‘LaserFactory’, a laser cutter that’s been modified into an fabrication platform capable of producing functional devices. In this video, it cuts the pieces necessary to build a drone, then pours silver into the circuit traces, attaches its electronic components, solders the silver in place, and the drone flies right out of the machine. In the future? In the future this is how the robot army will build and grow itself. In the past? In the past is where we’ll all wish we lived when that happens.
