This is a video of the winner of the ‘Best Illusion Of The Year’, as created by mathematician Kokichi Sugihara of Meiji University in Tokyo. The 3D Schröder Staircase “looks exactly the same right-side-up and upside-down, its left end looking taller than its right.” It was pretty fun to watch, although I’ll admit I don’t really like my eyes and brain being tricked liked that because I feel like I’m being taken advantage of. Did you just steal my wallet? Of course I would argue the real best illusion of the year was that it ever stood any chance of being anything but a raging dumpster fire. *playing beer pong alone with shots of NyQuil* Wake me up when it’s over.
