This is a 48-second timelapse video of a Mexican Flame Knee tarantula (Brachypelma auratum) molting over the course of three hours. It’s crazy how they lay on their backs like that to molt. They must be really vulnerable during that time. I mean I still wouldn’t mess with one, but somebody or something that wants to be looking over its shoulder for the rest of its life might. I remember one time I put a fake spider in my girlfriend’s hair and she made it very clear going forward that she was not going to be my girlfriend any longer. Look at us now though! “Seven hundred miles apart.” She was serious.
