What The?: Water Hammers Demonstrate The Sound Of Water Hitting Glass In A Vacuum

This is a video of Youtuber MadHotGlass playing two water hammers that she made, which consist of water sealed inside a vacuum created in borosilicate glass tubes. The resulting metallic ‘ping’ sound is due to there not being any air inside the tubes to cushion the water when it hits the glass. Pretty wild, right? Maybe not as wild as I got last weekend, but I stayed up past midnight on Saturday and almost finished a third beer. “You wild child.” I’ll sleep when I’m dead!
